A red clay hood top insert from Redbank, list reference No. 30. The 190mm external spigot (145mm internal) drops into the opening of an existing chimney pot, and the open-sided hood above keeps rain out of the flue while still letting air move through it.

Capping a redundant pot this way keeps the stack dry without sealing it, which is what stops condensation building in the flue. Used for capping redundant chimney pots and for ventilating disused flues where rain exclusion with through-airflow is required.
